Race weekend Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS at Jerez

Un’altra grande prestazione per Cram Motorsport a Jerez de la Frontera, teatro dell’ultimo appuntamento stagionale della Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS.
Come consuetudine la compagine dei fratelli Gabriele e Simone Rosei ha schierato tre vetture preparate per Jordan Fischer, Matteo Ferrer e Vasily Romanov, che si sono ben comportati al confronto con i partecipanti della Eurocup che sono giunti in Andalusia in preparazione della gara prevista per la settimana successiva, chiusura anche della serie continentale.

Bella prova nella prima sessione di qualifiche per Romanov, autore del terzo miglior tempo che gli ha permesso di prendere il via dalla seconda fila sullo schieramento di partenza. Vasily tuttavia ha leggermente fatto pattinare le gomme al via di gara 1, perdendo due posizioni all’ingresso della prima curva. Pur lottando con grinta, Jerez non è il circuito più facile per i sorpassi, ma nonostante il russo sia transitato quinto sotto la bandiera a scacchi, ha portato a casa i punti della terza posizione, essendo due wild card davanti a lui trasparenti ai fini della classifica. Decisamente più complicata invece la giornata di domenica, dove a causa della pioggia arrivata all’improvviso Romanov non è andato oltre il ventesimo tempo, ritirandosi poi nel corso di gara 2.

Due manche di rimonta invece per Jordan Fischer, che ha concluso con un sedicesimo e diciassettesimo posto in recupero rispettivamente dalla diciottesima e della ventiduesima piazza. A compromettere per lui l’approdo in top-10 un contatto che gli ha provocato la rottura dell’alettone e della bandella.

Fattori esterni hanno condizionato anche le prove di Matteo Ferrer. L’inglese in gara 1 ha recuperato cinque posizioni dalla diciassettesima piazzola in partenza, al dodicesimo posto sotto la bandiera a scacchi, conquistando la zona punti grazie alla presenza di wild card trasparenti in classifica. In gara 2 invece Matteo è stato coinvolto in un contatto, finendo in testacoda e concludendo in ventunesima posizione, dopo che aveva ottenuto il quindicesimo tempo in qualifica.

Cram Motorsport delivered another great run at Jerez De La Frontera in the 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS finale. The Italian squad fielded once again their three Tatuus-built racecars for Jordan Fischer, Matteo Ferrer and Vasily Romanov, who showcased their driving skills among the Eurocup runners who lined-up in Andalusia to prepare for the closing run of their championship set for the following weekend.

In the first qualifying session, Romanov set the third fastest lap which handed him a spot on the second row for Race 1. At the start though, a little too much wheelspin cost him two spots by the first corner. Despite his fighting attitude, Jerez doesn’t offer many passing opportunities and the Russian brought home a valuable fifth place that translated in a third place in terms of points given that the two cars in front were wild-cards and did not count in standings. Sunday proved much more complicated for Romanov, as the sudden arrival of a strong rainfall relegated him to the 20th place in qualifying 2 before retiring during the race.

Jordan Fisher delivered two spectacular comebacks as he ended up with a 16th and a 17th place recovering up from the 18th and the 22nd place on the grid respectively. A contact that damaged his wing and an endplate cost him the chances of a top-10 finish.

Some external circumstances also conditioned Matteo Ferrer’s runs. The British racer recovered from the 17th place on the grid to 12th place at the line, making it to the points zone thanks to the wild-cards in front of him. After lining-up in 15th place, he was involved in a contact and forced into a spin on Race 2 leading to a 21th place.
